Nick and Kate. Riverway Clubhouse
Nick and Kate met through a mutual friend 3 1/2 years ago. He proposed just this last February at Prospect Point in Stanley Park on a beautiful sunny day. In Kate's words, "We went for lunch at Prospect Point Cafe and went for a little stroll to the sea wall. There was a clearing in the trees overlooking the ocean. There he dropped down to one knewe and asked. Prospect point was never 'our place'...but he said he chose it because he wanted us to have a new place that we could always go to and remember that day." How sweet is that?!?
Kate was one of the most organized brides I've ever worked with. I got a schedule weeks before the day of the wedding, and when I arrived on the day of, her and all of her bridesmaids already had hair and makeup done and were pretty much ready to go!
Kate and her girls chose to get ready at her parents house. It was one of the neatest houses I've ever seen! Estimated at over 100 years old, it is a heritage house in Langley. They have it decorated with furniture and decor that preserve the antique look. I just loved the antique doors they had placed on the side of the house. They made for the perfect spot to hang the beautiful lace dress!!
The ceremony and reception took place at Riverway Clubhouse Golf Course in Burnaby. I had never shot there before. It was gorgeous! High, vaulted, wooden ceilings and windows lining the whole one side of the room.
They got married outside in front of family and friends overlooking a pond and the golf course. I LOVED Nick's face when he first saw Kate! I loved how he kept his head down until he knew she was closer to him and then looked up with absolute love and admiration.
I always recommend to my couples to take a few moments to do sunset photos during the reception. Sunset light is so soft and beautiful, and I find that golf courses seem to have some of the most amazing sunsets, so of course I was excited when Nick and Kate were more than willing to do them. They ended up being some of my most favourite shots of the day!
